The morning novena mass began at 11:00 a.m. Mass was celebrated by Rev Dr Fr J.B Saldanha, Parish Priest of Permannur. He reflected on the theme ” Being Merciful towards others is the quality of the Children of God”.  In his homily reflecting on the theme he said it is important to show mercy in our day to day life. Giving some practical incidents like, How do we treat the road construction, building construction and other workers. We do expect from them the work but fail to show the mercy towards them.  It is easy to say something about forgiveness but hard to live so by asking the grace of the Lord we can forgive and show mercy he said by giving an example of a lady who suffered in the Nazi concentration camp. Mentioning Pope Francis and his merciful work towards the beggars and construction of the washrooms Fr JB Saldanha said our life should be like him and at that time there is meaning to our life. During the mass special prayer was made for the children and youth. After the mass and novena meal was served to the devotees. Nearly 2000 devotees participated in the novena mass.
