On Wednesday, 20th November 2024, at 5:00 p.m. faithful of our Parish gathered to commemorate their departed loved ones in a solemn mass marking 100 years of unwavering faith. This special mass, celebrated by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Andrew Leo D’Souza, honored the contributions and sacrifices of the departed souls who laid the foundation of our parish community. Concelebrating the mass were esteemed former Parish Priest Rev. Fr Denis D’Souza, Rev. Fr Theo Pinto, Rev. Fr Assisi Saldana, and Rev. Fr Eugene D’Silva of the Redemptorist Congregation. During the liturgy, heartfelt prayers were offered for the eternal repose of the souls of departed family members of the Parish.

After the Mass for the departed faithful, former Parish Priest Rev. Fr Denis D’Souza addressed the Parishioners sharing heartfelt memories and gratitude.

Fr Denis began by expressing his appreciation to the current parish priest, Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, for inviting him to participate in this special occasion. He recalled his tenure in the parish with fondness and humility, stating, “When I worked in this parish, I was blessed with the unwavering support and prayers of the parishioners. With their encouragement, I was able to accomplish one of the greatest milestones – the building of the First Church.”

He acknowledged the collective efforts of the community, highlighting how their faith and unity made this significant achievement possible. Fr Denis extended his gratitude to all who contributed to this endeavor and prayed for their continued blessings.

Following the mass, a solemn procession led the congregation to the cemetery. Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, along with Rev. Fr William D’Souza and Rev. Fr. Peter Gonsalves, Principal of St Lawrence English Medium School, conducted special prayers at the cemetery. Each grave was blessed with Holy water as the faithful prayed for the eternal peace of their loved ones. Parishioners visited the graves of their family members, offering personal prayers and floral tributes, reflecting a strong sense of community and reverence for their ancestors.

This meaningful celebration underscored the unity of faith, the importance of remembrance, and the enduring legacy of those who have passed on, keeping their spirit alive in the hearts
