On Sunday, July 6th, the faithful members of St Thomas Ward came together to joyfully celebrate their annual ward feast. The day began with a solemn and heartfelt Thanksgiving Mass at 7:00 a.m., offered by the ward members in honor of their patron, St Thomas. From the readings to the choir and offertory, the entire liturgy was meaningfully conducted by the ward members themselves, beautifully reflecting their deep devotion, unity, and active involvement in the life of the Church.

The celebration continued at 4:00 p.m. at Mr Alwyn Miranda’s residence, beginning with a hymn to the Holy Spirit. Mrs. Rita Miranda conducted fun-filled games for children and adults alike, followed by light refreshments.

At 6:00 p.m., the stage program began with a soulful prayer song, setting a reverent tone for the evening. Mrs Jacinta Mascarenhas extended a warm welcome to the gathering, followed by the presentation of the annual report by Mrs Elizabeth Pinto, highlighting the ward’s activities and accomplishments over the past year. The dignitaries on the dais then inaugurated the program with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the light of faith and unity.

The event was graced by the presence of Rev.Fr Andrew Leo Dsouza-Parish Priest , Rev.Fr Peter Gonsalves-Principal St Lawrence Eng. Med. School, and Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha-Asst. Priest, along with Mr John D’Silva-Vice President , Mr Santhosh Misquith-Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council , and Sr Jyothi. Also present were the Ward Gurkarn Mrs Jacinta Mascarenhas, Ward Representatives Mr Colin Miranda and Mrs Lavina Lobo, and Ward Secretary Mrs Elizabeth Pinto.

Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Rev. Fr Peter Gonsalves, and Mr John D’Silva shared inspiring messages on the unwavering faith and missionary zeal of St Thomas, encouraging all to follow his example.

The cultural program that followed was compered by Mr Godwin D’Silva and featured a vibrant lineup of skits, songs, and dance performances by enthusiastic ward members. Stage coordination was gracefully handled by Mrs Veronica Pais. Prizes were distributed to all the winners by the distinguished guests, adding to the joy and celebration of the evening.

Two talented children from the ward were honored with the Pratibha Puraskar award for their exceptional achievements, while another was felicitated as the “Multi-Talented Kid” in recognition of diverse talents.

Mrs Lavina Lobo delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration. The joyful evening concluded with a fellowship dinner, strengthening the bond of togetherness among the ward members.
