Sixth Day of the Novena in Preparation for the Feast of St Lawrence held at Bondel Church & Shrine,.

Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord

The sixth day of the Novena began with a soul-stirring Adoration at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Holy Mass at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Fr. Franklin D’Souza from the Diocese of Shimoga.. He was joined by Fr Lawrence Cutinha -Asst. Parish Priest, Rev.Fr Peter Mascarenhas, and Fr James Britto MSIJ as concelebrants.

In his homily, Fr Franklin D’Souza called on the faithful to remain close to Jesus and allow His presence to bring inner and spiritual transformation. Drawing from the Feast of the Transfiguration, he recalled the voice from heaven: “This is my beloved Son, listen to Him.” He reflected on how St. Lawrence allowed God’s Word to shape his life like a blooming jasmine. Citing Benny Prasad Kandukuri’s inspiring testimony, Fr Franklin urged the faithful to tune their hearts to God amidst today’s noisy, tech-driven world. He concluded that transformation comes through love, forgiveness, compassion, and service.

The morning liturgy was conducted by Bendur, Permannur, and Bondel Parishioners, with the Vamanjoor Parish Choir leading the singing.

Each day, our shrine welcomes devotees of all faiths, including government officials and political leaders, who seek divine blessings and graciously join us for a shared meal

The evening service began with Adoration at 5:30 p.m., followed by Holy Mass at 6:00 p.m., celebrated by Rev. Fr Santosh Rodrigues, Director of the Pastoral Centre, Bajjodi. Concelebrants included Fr Peter Gonsalves -Principal, St. Lawrence English Medium School, and Rev. Fr Pramod Crasta Asst Manager-Codialbail Press.

In his homily, Fr Santosh emphasized the transformative power of encountering Jesus, reflecting on Peter’s experience at Mount Tabor. He beautifully contrasted the white clouds of Tabor with the red clouds of Calvary, signifying Jesus’ sacrifice. He reminded the faithful that transformation begins with a strong prayer life and embracing the cross. Like St Lawrence, we are called to live with faith, love, and courage, listening to God’s voice in our daily lives.

The evening liturgy was conducted by Adyapadi, Derebail, and Bondel Parishioners, and the Bajal Parish Choir enriched the celebration with their music.

Special prayers were offered for all those serving in the healthcare sector, including doctors and nurses, acknowledging their dedication and compassion.
