St Lawrence Church & Shrine, Bondel, in collaboration with the Catechism Commission, organized a Marian Hymn Singing Competition on Sunday, August 24th, at 9:30 a.m. for all the Sunday Catechism students of Bondel Parish. The event, held at the St Lawrence English Medium School classrooms, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 150 children, who filled the atmosphere with joy and devotion as they sang melodious hymns in honor of Mother Mary.
The competition began with a welcome address by Teacher Juliana Pereira, followed by Sunday Catechism Secretary Elizabeth Rodrigues, who extended a warm welcome to the esteemed panel of judges with a rose. To make the competition smooth and fair, the participants were divided class-wise into four sections:
• Std I–III
• Std IV–V
• Std VI–VII
• Std VIII–X
The event was graced by a dedicated panel of judges:
• Std I–III: Mrs Jasmine Dsouza & Miss Abigail Crasta
• Std IV–V: Mrs Suman Theresa Menezes & Mrs Asha Pinto
• Std VI–VII: Mr Jason Lobo & Miss Melissa Saldanha
• Std VIII–X: Mrs Meera Crasta, Mr Dolwin Rohan Mendonca & Miss Dealle Dsouza
After the vibrant and devotional competition, the judges were honored with a token of gratitude in the form of a gift and memento, presented by the teachers in charge.
The event was a grand success under the guidance of our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, Sunday Catechism Director Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Coordinator Mrs Lavina Menezes, and with the dedicated support of all Catechism teachers and ICYM members. Mrs Lavina Menezes proposed the vote of thanks, expressing special appreciation to the Bondel Choir Members who graciously served as judges, acknowledging their valuable time and contribution.
We are grateful to Rev. Fr Peter Gonsalves, Principal of St Lawrence English Medium School, for graciously allowing the use of the classrooms.
The organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the parents for their encouragement and support in helping their children actively participate and showcase their devotion to Mother Mary and love for their parish community.
