Bondel, October 18, 2026: Seeking God’s protection and blessings for safe journeys, St Lawrence Church and Shrine, Bondel, organised a special Vehicle Blessing Ceremony on October 17 and 18, 2026.

The blessing ceremony was held on Saturday, October 17, following the 5:00 p.m. Holy Mass, and on Sunday, October 18, after the 5:45 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Holy Masses.

The ceremony was led by Rev. Fr Basil Vas, Rector of the Shrine; Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest; and Rev. Fr Peter Gonsalves, Principal of St Lawrence English Medium School. The priests offered prayers and blessed the vehicles, invoking God’s divine protection upon drivers, passengers and all those who travel.

Emphasising the importance of road safety, responsible driving and mutual respect on the roads, the priests encouraged the faithful to seek God’s guidance in every journey and to drive with patience, caution and consideration for others. They reminded everyone that while prayer seeks God’s protection, every road user also has a responsibility to ensure the safety of others.

The ceremony witnessed the enthusiastic participation of vehicle owners, drivers and parishioners, who brought their vehicles to receive the blessings.

The Vehicle Blessing Ceremony served as a meaningful reminder that every journey can be entrusted to God’s loving care. With hearts filled with faith, the faithful departed with prayers for safe travels, protection from harm and God’s blessings upon every journey.

St Christopher, Patron Saint of Travellers protect us on all our journeys, guide us safely to our destinations, and keep us safe from every danger along the way.
