St. Lawrence Church, Bondel, came alive with festive fervor as parishioners welcomed the birth of Jesus with warmth and devotion. The Christmas celebrations began at 7:00 p.m. with melodious carol singing led by the church choir, setting the tone for a heartwarming evening.

At 7:30 p.m., the festival mass commenced. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, the Parish Priest, concelebrants Rev. Fr William D’Souza Asst. Parish priest, Rev. Fr Ravi Kumar MSIJ, Rev. Fr Gregory, and Rev. Fr Theo Pinto.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. William D’Souza highlighted the profound mystery of Christmas, especially Jesus’ incarnation—God took on human form. “We ought to be Emmanuel, or ‘God with us,’ reflecting God’s life. “Isaiah’s prophecy, the angel’s message to Mary, and the humble birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, the ‘House of Bread,’ all proclaim God’s infinite affection and the true meaning of Christmas,” he said. He urged everyone present to embrace the spiritual value of the manger, the star, and the tree as well as seek out the deeper meanings behind these Christmas symbols.

In his Christmas message, Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza –Parish Priest expressed heartfelt gratitude to the PPC Members, Volunteers across various Parish ministries, ICYM Members for their unwavering enthusiasm and dedication. He, along with Rev. Fr William and the other celebrants, extended warm Christmas wishes to all Parish families, especially those living abroad, reminding them of the joy and unity that the season brings.

A Spirit of Festivity The choir’s captivating performance enhanced the celebration’s delight and cheered everyone in present. Following the mass, the Christmas cheer continued as a delicious cake was distributed to everyone. The ICYM further enhanced the festive atmosphere with a short but engaging program, bringing the community together in celebration.

The St. Lawrence Church and Shrine in Bondel truly radiated the spirit of Christmas, as parishioners came together to celebrate the birth of Christ with faith, love, and unity.
