Theme: Word of God – The Strength of the Word of God.
March 17th, Tuesday, 2026
The second day of the Lenten Retreat began at 4:00 p.m. with the proclamation of the Word of God, followed by a vibrant session of praise and worship led by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza
The main reflection was given by Rev. Dr Vincent Sequeira, Assistant Director of Mangala Jyothi, who spoke powerfully on the theme of the day. Referring to Epistle to the Hebrews 4:12, he emphasized how the Word of God is living and active, speaking directly to our hearts. He explained that the Word strengthens our faith, guides us in forgiveness, and helps us grow in love and unity.
He also highlighted the importance of surrender, service, and community life, reminding everyone that the Word of God nurtures our mind, soul, and entire life. Through prayerful contemplation of God’s Word, we are led towards a meaningful and faith-filled life.
At 6:00 p.m., the Holy Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Vincent and concelebrated by Fr Andrew Leo Souza. During the homily, reflecting on the Gospel from Gospel of John 5:1–16, he spoke about the healing of the man who had been suffering for 38 years. He explained the meaning of “Bethesda” as the house of mercy, emphasizing that healing comes through faith. Faith and belief, he said, are the true strengths of our daily life.
Following the Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was exposed for Adoration. Fr Vincent prayerfully interceded for everyone, especially for families, loved ones, and those suffering due to war and hardships. The faithful gathered in deep devotion and prayer.
The retreat concluded with the Eucharistic blessing and a thanksgiving hymn. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza expressed gratitude to Rev .Dr Vincent for his inspiring and spiritually enriching guidance.
