Theme: Jesus Truly Present in the Holy Eucharist

The third day of the Lenten Retreat began with a heartfelt praise and worship session led by Jasmine, creating a prayerful atmosphere and preparing the faithful to encounter the Lord.

The retreat was preached by Rev. Fr Joseph Martis from Derebail Parish, who beautifully reflected on the theme: “Jesus truly present in the Holy Eucharist” ( Matthew 26:26).

Fr Martis explained the deep meaning and importance of the Eucharist, reminding everyone that just as food is essential for our physical life, the Body of Christ is essential for our spiritual life. He emphasized that when we receive the Eucharist, God dwells within us — Emmanuel, God with us — coming into our lives in the humble form of bread.

He highlighted that the Holy Eucharist is the center of our Christian life, giving us spiritual nourishment and strength to face our daily struggles. He invited all to pray earnestly:

“Lord, increase my strength and deepen my faith.”

He also stressed that faith in the Eucharist brings healing and transformation, encouraging everyone to trust fully in God’s presence.

At 6:00 p.m., the Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Fr Joseph Martis. During the homily, he reflected on:

Proper preparation to receive the Eucharist

The importance of participating actively in the Holy Mass

The significance of the Word of God – the readings and the Gospel

He urged the faithful to teach children the value of the Eucharist and to approach the celebration of Mass with reverence and readiness.

After the Holy Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was exposed for Adoration, allowing the faithful to spend silent moments in the presence of the Lord.

Special prayers were offered for:

People working in Gulf countries, living in uncertainty and fear

The sick and the suffering

Fr Martis reminded everyone with conviction:

“Nothing is impossible when we trust and have faith in the Eucharist.”

Following the final blessing, Rev.Fr Peter Gonsalves expressed words of gratitude for the retreat and the celebration. The gathering concluded with the Angelus prayer and a thanksgiving hymn, bringing the day’s retreat to a peaceful and grace-filled end.
