On April 3rd, 2026, Good Friday was devoutly observed at St Lawrence Church & Shrine, Bondel, as the faithful entered into the sacred mystery of Christ’s Passion through the Way of the Cross held at 11:00 a.m., led by devoted members of various wards, symbolising the unity of the Church in sharing Christ’s suffering.

The solemn ceremony began with an opening prayer, inviting all present to surrender their hearts to God and to walk spiritually with Christ on His journey of sacrifice. The Church choir uplifted the devotion with soulful hymns, drawing the faithful into a deeper encounter with God, where music became a prayer that touched both heart and soul. Each station of the Cross was accompanied by meaningful meditations, helping the faithful reflect on Christ’s suffering while recognising His presence in their own daily struggles, reminding them that every pain can lead to grace and redemption.

Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, the Parish Priest, delivered a spirit-filled message that inspired the congregation to embrace the Cross with faith, transforming sorrow into hope and strengthening their trust in God’s plan. Rev. Fr Peter Gonsalves, Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Rev. Fr Vincent Saldanha, and Rev. Fr Alwyn Crasta -Bethrram prayerfully participated in the devotion, reflecting the unity of the clergy in guiding the faithful closer to Christ.

The ceremony concluded with the veneration of the Holy Cross, where a special blessing was imparted with the Relic of the Holy Cross by Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza. In this sacred moment, the faithful encountered Christ’s boundless love, receiving His grace and departing with renewed faith, inner strength, and a deeper connection to the saving Passion of Christ.
