Catechism Commission Organises Parents’ and Children’s Meeting at St Lawrence Church & Shrine, Bondel.

The Catechism Commission of St Lawrence Church & Shrine, Bondel, organised a meeting for catechism children and their parents on Sunday, 5 July 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Rev. Dr Praveen Leo Lasrado, Secretary for the Catholic Board of Education, celebrated the 8:30 a.m. Eucharistic Celebration. Following the Mass, he conducted an inspiring session for the catechism children and their parents.

Following the Mass, Fr Leo conducted an inspiring and interactive session for the children and their parents. Using the example of a jar filled with coloured balls, pebbles, confetti, and water, he explained the importance of setting the right priorities in life. He compared the jar to our life, explaining that the coloured balls represent the most important things, such as God, family, faith, and values, while the pebbles and confetti represent the less important aspects of life. He encouraged parents and children to always place God at the center of their lives.

Fr Leo urged families to make Sunday Mass and catechism a priority. He encouraged children to pray every day, spend time before the Blessed Sacrament at least once a month, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least twice a year, and grow in their relationship with God. Addressing the parents, he reminded them that nurturing their children’s spiritual life is just as important as caring for their academic and personal development. He encouraged them to bring their children to church regularly and guide them in living a life rooted in faith and Christian values.

At the end of the session, Rev. Fr Peter Gonsalves, Principal of St Lawrence English Medium School, thanked Rev. Dr Leo Lasrado for his inspiring and thought-provoking session. He expressed gratitude for the valuable guidance shared with the children and their parents, encouraging them to strengthen their faith and make God a priority in their daily lives.. As a token of love and appreciation from the parish, he presented Fr Leo Lasrado with a Konkani Dictionary in gratitude for his meaningful and inspiring session.
