The ICYM Bondel Unit successfully organized Pavsa Thembe 2026, an exclusive monsoon-themed event for the parishioners of Bondel, on 19th July 2026 at the St Lawrence Church Grounds, Bondel. The programme commenced at 2:30 p.m. and witnessed enthusiastic participation from parishioners of all age groups. A total of 14 wards took part in the various competitions, making the event a vibrant celebration of fellowship, creativity, and community spirit.

The programme commenced with an opening prayer led by Lereina and team, invoking God’s blessings on the gathering. Ms Juhi D’Cunha delivered the welcome address, extending a warm greeting to the dignitaries, participants, and parishioners. The event was compered by Ms. Riya Veigas, who conducted the programme with confidence and enthusiasm.

The dignitaries present on the dais were ; Rev. Fr Basil Vas, Parish Priest ,Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha, and Director of ICYM Bondel & Assistant Priest , Rev. Fr. Peter Gonsalves, Principal of St Lawrence English Medium School -Assistant Director of ICYM ,Chief Guest Mr Gregory D’Silva,Mrs Zeena Cornelio, Animator,Mr John D’Silva, Vice President,Mr Alwyn Saldanha, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)

The programme was formally inaugurated in the presence of the dignitaries. During the inaugural ceremony, the speakers commended the ICYM Bondel Unit for organizing a unique parish event that fostered unity, teamwork, fellowship, and joyful participation among the parishioners.

Following the inaugural ceremony, the entertainment segment commenced with eight exciting games conducted by Mr Aston D’Souza and his team, keeping the participants actively engaged throughout the afternoon. The competitions were judged by Mr Brandon Pereira, Ms Riya Rodrigues, and Mr Sheldon Tauro from ICYM City Deanery.

The programme was further graced by the presence of Mr Joel D’Souza, President of ICYM City Deanery, who was welcomed with a rose by Ms Melissa Monteiro, President of ICYM Bondel. The event was also attended by Mr Christon Monteiro, President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese; Mr Rayan Noronha, Vice President; along with other members of the diocesan executive committee, all of whom were warmly welcomed with flowers.

A special highlight of the day was the celebration of Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha’s birthday. A cake-cutting ceremony was held in his honour, adding to the joy and festive spirit of the occasion.

The programme concluded with the prize distribution and presentation of mementoes. Holy Cross Ward emerged as the champions, securing the First Place, while St Vincent de Paul Ward finished as the Runners-up. The celebrations ended on a joyful note with a lively Rain Dance Baila, bringing Pavsa Thembe 2026 to a memorable and grand conclusion.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Jasmine Fernandes, Secretary of the ICYM Bondel Unit, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, sponsors, participants, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
