10 April 2022 Palm Sunday was celebrated with joyous note at St Lawrence church Bondel the Palm Sunday, commemorating the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem ahead of his crucifixion and resurrection, marking the beginning of the Holy Week. The blessing of the Palms ceremony was held near Crucifixa at 7.30 am. Parish Priest Rev Fr. Andrew Leo D’Souza blessed the palms and distributed them to the faithful, Fr led the brief prayers and message before the blessing. Holy water was sprinkled on the palm leaves. Devotees with palm leaves took part in the procession singing hymns and reciting prayers to commemorate Christ’s passion and death. Rev Fr Peter Gonsalves -Principal St Lawrence English Medium school was the main celebrant Rev Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza Rev Fr Rupesh Tauro Concelebated the mass, Delivering the homily, Rev Fr Peter said that Palm Sunday is the first day of the Holy Week. He narrated the significance of Palm Sunday and how the faithful prepare themselves during the Holy Week so that they may meaningfully participate in the joy of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday.Christians all over the world mark their Holy Week starting from Palm Sunday and concluding on Easter Sunday, which celebrates the Resurrection of Christ on the third day after his death on the cross. Palm Sunday showcases the kingship of Jesus Christ and commemorates his triumphant riding into Jerusalem, and He will be delivered to the chief priest and scribes, and they condemn Him to Death.
